 Legitimate Bodies will combine forces with Hilltown Studio Theatre to present a dance event in a wonderful rural venue which will continue to raise the profile of contemporary dance in the Midlands. The company will occupy the various unique locations in Hilltown for a short residency and this will then culminate with a dance performance and workshops on the final day.

The focus will be on making dance visible and accessible with one workshop in contemporary dance for adults and one for children. The aim is to encourage audience participation. Specifically created dance works will   be performed starting after 4pm by Nick Bryson, Cristina Goletti, Tanya McCrory and Catherine Young. There will also be screenings of dance film throughout the day. The event aims to shine a light on the artistic process and offer an insight into dance creation.

The workshops will be in contemporary dance and are open to those with no dance experience. The first workshop for children from 7 years up to 13 years will commence at 1.30pm. The second workshop for teens and adults will commence at 3pm .This is a great opportunity for adults and young people to learn and develop their dance skills..

Legitimate Bodies Dance Company is led by artistic duo Nick Bryson and Cristina Goletti and is a new dance reality in Birr, County Offaly. The company adheres to a policy of openness to all perceptions of the definition of dance. The company marries a pursuit of excellence in their artistic practice with an outreach programme with sessions in Pilates, ballet and Contemporary Dance for young people.   Legitimate Bodies have shown their work both nationally and internationally.
